Prioritize projects that are already in the budget to ensure the most beneficial projects come first.
Protect neighborhoods from “Density for Dollars”! No High-Density Development!
Find solutions to drainage problems throughout the city, including regularly scheduled maintenance on ditch cleaning.
Encourage and support the creation of a high-tech park associated with NASA (to be located on Hwy 603 north of I-10 east-west corridors).
Protect the quality of life that makes our city great while using a smart growth approach to moving our city forward.
Find solutions to downtown parking issue by sharing and collaborating on a plan that I have developed.
Review and revise zoning ordinances with local government, in order to protect the quality of life that makes Bay St. Louis “A Place Apart”.
Work diligently on all concerns that regard our city.
Maintain and preserve the sports complexes that are vital to the growth and development of the youth in our community.
Build more parks, walking paths, and recreational places.
Listen to and advocate for you! I will always return my phone calls, you can count on it!
Taking care of our community is my top priority. If I am elected, I intend to:
As a longtime citizen of Bay St. Louis, I will take my leadership role with the utmost responsibility. I want results and my past experience as a councilman speaks for my advocacy for our community! I was elected in 1993 to serve as councilman for Ward 4 and I went on to serve two terms as councilman. While working closely with the mayor, city council, and county supervisors and staff, I was able to help accomplish:
The completion of a $12 million drainage project, the largest drainage project in the history of Bay St. Louis, to solve flooding problems throughout the city. In addition to this project, I helped procure $4.5 million for drainage in Ward 4. To my knowledge, Spanish Acres has not flooded again.
The completion of a $2 Million sewage extension project to extend sewer through Old Spanish Trail, St. Charles, And Hugo Streets.
The addition of a $500,000 senior citizen complex.
The addition of a walking and bike path from Washington St. to Garfield-Ladner Pier by spearheading an 80/20 match grant project.
The addition of Bay St. Louis Sport Complex off of Athletic Dr. by spearheading the multimillion dollar project.
The adoption of the first comprehensive plan to ensure that the growth and development of our community preserved our way of life.
The adoption of ordinances to protect our community, such as restrictions on gentlemen’s clubs, cell towers, noise, animal control, billboards and signs, tree protection (magnolias and live oaks), the Site Plan Review ordinance, and the Casino Resort District ordinance (this ordinance prohibited casinos anywhere in our city except where Hollywood Casino is located today, pre-annexation. It took six years to adopt this ordinance.)
In addition to my goals and previous experience, I would also like to share a few other accomplishments in hopes of gaining your support:
The Chamber of Commerce appointed me to the Steering Committee to develop the Leadership Hancock County program. I am a graduate of the first class of 1997.
The city council appointed me to represent Bay Saint Louis in the organization of Partners for Stennis.
I was appointed to be the first city councilman to be seated on the newly formed solid waste board and I served two years in that role.
In 2008, I was appointed by the mayor and city council to serve on the advisory board to produce a second comprehensive plan.
In 2022, I was appointed by the mayor and city council to serve on the advisory board to produce the third comprehensive plan.
I assure you that I am a highly-qualified candidate to serve our community as Councilman At-Large. I want to be there for you and our community.
Thank you for your consideration.
